Working From Home Is A Discipline

Not everyone is suited to working from home. In fact, many people are not self disciplined enough to be able to handle working alone at home. And that' s OK. That's why there are employers.

When you become a medical transcriptionist you may decide that you want to work from home. Others go another route and seek employment at a hospital or a doctor's office. Either way is fine, but if you want to work from home then you need to have an ability to work unsupervised. You should have, at a minimum, the following characteristics and disciplines:

• Able to work unsupervised
• Diligent in your work ethic
• Good money and time management skills
• Deadline oriented
• Excellent command of the English language
• Good proofreader
• Great listening skills
• Have an eye for detail

When you work from home you do not have anyone looking over your should to make sure you are doing your job. You are your own boss. If you can handle the work from home lifestyle and discipline yourself to work when you should while providing yourself with adequate play time then the medical transcription profession will be good to you. And so will your job.
