Everyone dreams of being in a profession that earns them a high income. In the U.S., high income can mean different things to different people, but the general consensus is that anything above the median income is considered high. That figure is roughly $50,000. If you make more than $50,000 then you are above the median and that puts you in the high income category.
The question on your mind may be, can a medical transcriptionist achieve that level of income and the answer is a resounding "Yes!"
The median income for medical transcriptionists in May 2006 was $14.40 per hour. On a 40 hour work week that equates to $29,952. Since median income is the middle range, half of all medical transcriptionists earned above that figure. Some full time medical transcriptionists have earned as much as $40,000 starting out. More experienced medical transcriptionists with a team that they manage and supervise can earn up to $80,000 or more. But this is based on past demand for the professional services a medical transcriptionist offers. The future looks even brighter than that.
Are you ready to be a high income earner? Do you think you have the skills to be a medical transcriptionist? Are you highly organized and able to manage others? Then you might be ripe for a career as a medical transcriptionist.
