Sometimes people think there are disadvantages of being an MT at home. These negative ideas and the points made could be turned into what most people see as advantages of working from home. Here are some of the thoughts others have, and the truth about them.

Missing out on relationships:  In a work-at-home job, you miss out on relationships with other people and the opportunity to work as a team with others. Since there are no physical interactions or social things going on throughout the day, one could develop depression, loneliness, and boredom.
-The truth is your Medical Transcription work, whether done from an office or at home, is not your entire life. Just because you can no longer turn your work time into social hour does not mean you will be cut off from the world. It is your job to keep up your social life after work hours.

Laziness:  Since you are now in charge of yourself without a boss to keep you on task, things are going to be difficult unless you are strictly self-disciplined.
-While it is true that self-discipline is necessary, it is not an amount out of the ordinary. Being your own boss and having freedom is a definite positive side of being a work-at-home transcriptionist.

Distractions:  Since your work area at home may not be the perfect business atmosphere, there will be a lot of distractions and noises that will keep you from your work.
-Distractions can happen equally everywhere and tend to happen more in an office environment than anywhere else. It is true, however, that if you have a work area set up in your home, you may get more work done than at the office where coworkers may have most of your attention.

Employee Benefits:  As an employee in an office or under another person, you get the legal employee benefits such as minimum wage payment, specified work hours, paid holidays, and health insurance, but not if you are an independent contractor.
-While this is technically true, the benefits of working from home far outweigh those of the employee. Your ability to grow in the office is none while when working from home as a contractor, your business could boom and you can make more money. Also, you are not restricted to taking the holidays that everyone else does.
