Quiet Workspace - A quiet workspace is very important. Between family members, visitors, phone calls, television, internet and more, it is EASY to become distracted from your work. It is best that you inform people up front that you are strictly working during certain times and ask that they leave you alone unless it is an emergency. At first, it may be difficult, especially if your kids are used to you being home and not working, but eventually everyone will come around.
Clean Workspace - Having a clean workspace is very important for your home office. If there is clutter, it will take time away from
medical transcription to find things and you will not have the best productivity possible which means less pay for you. Also, having a comfortable desk and chair are important. You will be easily distracted if you do not have a clear and clean area to work in.
Focus - It is important to focus on the task at hand when working as a
medical transcriptionist. If you are thinking about things outside of work while transcribing medical reports, chances are that you will not be very accurate. Also, your productivity, which equals your pay, goes down. Some mistakes caused by these distractions can cost you your job. You must be alert and well rested in order to do your job to the best of your ability. If you get discouraged, stay focused and you need to be positive in thought.
Overall, the quality of your medical reports counts more than the quantity. Yes, you will be paid based on productivity, but if the results are inaccurate, you won’t keep your job too long. Take your time and do the best you can.
